Vicar

Fr. Joe Sroka was called as Vicar of St. Andrew’s in October 2023.

He grew up in Tallahassee, FL, studied Finance and Real Estate at Florida State University, and was the Director of Finance and Human Resources at the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association.

He earned his Master of Divinity at Duke Divinity School and served as curate at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Asheboro, as well as missioner at The Community of the Franciscan Way in Siler City.

Fr. Joe is married to Michelle, and together they have four children (William, Philip, John, and Juliana) and operate a family business, Little Way Farm. As a bi-vocational farmer/priest, Joe works to build healthy local communities and economies.

Fr. Joe enjoys riding his bicycle with the Carolina Tarwheels and Triangle Velo.

Priest Associate

Before coming to St. Andrew’s in 2024, Fr. Brooks served for 27 years as rector of St. Matthew’s, Hillsborough. In 2017, he retired from full-time parish ministry and moved with his wife, Chris, to the Twin Lakes Community in Elon. They have one son, Martin, who lives in Luxembourg with his wife, Loretta Perera.

Fr. Brooks holds degrees from the University of Virginia (B.A. in Religious Studies), Duke University (M.Div. and Ph.D. in American Church History) and the Virginia Theological Seminary (Certificate in Anglican Studies and D.D.). In addition to parish ministry, Fr. Brooks has taught Episcopal Church History and Anglican Studies in the diocesan Deacon Formation Program. Since 2009, he has also served as the diocesan historiographer.

In retirement, Fr. Brooks has returned to his love of organ-playing. He helps out as an accompanist at the Twin Lakes Community Chapel and occasionally at St. Andrew’s.

Seminarian

Charles Fiore is a Master of Divinity Student at Church Divinity School of the Pacific and a postulant in the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. He began at St. Andrew’s in the summer of 2025. He earned his BA from Sewanee: The University of the South and his MA from Northwestern University. A former English Teacher, he has spent the majority of his professional career in the literary arts. He is the author of various essays and short stories as well as three novels that some people have said some nice things about. 

Charles grew up in Cincinnati, OH, and moved to North Carolina in 2009. For the past 10 years he has lived in Chapel Hill with his spouse and family.

Organist and Choir Director

Carol Hux Burnett came to St. Andrew’s in July 2026. Originally from Durham, she is an organist, voice teacher, conductor, music professor, and performer. She was educated at UNC (Music Education with performance emphasis in keyboard and voice), UNC-Greensboro (Master of Music in conducting and vocal pedagogy), and the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (choral conducting). She has cognates in music theory and sacred music and has taught voice in the area for many years. She conducted the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Chorale for ten years and was a founding member of the professional choral ensemble, The Bel Canto Company. She has served over eight churches in the area as organist/choirmaster and was Director of Music/Conductor at Salem Academy for over ten years. She and her spouse, Dr. Ted Burnett, live in Greensboro. They have two adult children and six grandchildren.
