Formation
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Acts 2:32
At St. Andrew’s, we strive to be faithful disciples of Jesus. It is a lifelong journey. St. Andrew’s offers formation opportunities for all ages and for stages of the journey, whether you’re just beginning or have been going to church forever.
On Sundays, children are always welcome in our regular church services. During coffee hour, children are invited to Children’s Sunday and Children’s Choir. During the summer, children also participate in Vacation Church School. In the fall, the youth attend the National Acolyte Festival in Washington, DC.
Once a month, the children and youth attend “Children’s Choir” following the service. Here, they learn the foundations of music and the Episcopal liturgical calendar. The Children’s Choir sings at designated Sunday services and other special occasions.
Throughout the year, the adult choir rehearses every other Sunday at 9:15 a.m. The choir is an integral part of our worship.
During the seasons of Advent and Lent, all ages are invited to our Wednesday evening formation offerings. We begin with Evening Prayer in the church, then share a simple supper in the parish hall. A study, facilitated by our clergy, follows.
